Third Annual Presents for Patients charity drive!

The School of Health Sciences, Nursing Society is collecting gifts to hand out to patients for a third year as the Presents for Patients appeal returns.

The present drive is happening across both our Bangor and Wrexham campuses. The collection points for presents are; Wrexham, Room 11, Cambrian 2 and Bangor, Shared Learning Space, Fron Heulog.

The students have been working hard to collect donations from local businesses, as well as University staff and students and the public. Both sites have received visits from important guests who have wanted to donate to the cause.

The Mayor of Wrexham, Mayor Andy Williams, visited our Wrexham site and met with students and lecturers to speak with them about the presents for patients drive and the wards to which they will be delivering the gifts.

At the Bangor site, Ynys Mon MP Albert Owen visited students to congratulate them on their efforts and make a donation to the drive.

Albert Owen MP said “I was pleased to be able to join the student nurses and make a donation from my constituency office.

“I would like to thank Amy Hughes and the team of the Bangor University Nursing Society for their kindness and hard work in organising this special event.”

Amy Hughes, lead organiser at the Bangor site said “We are looking at not only hitting our target of 200 boxes but going above and beyond! The response we have had from local businesses, students and the public has been overwhelming. We cannot thank everyone enough for making this drive such a success. You have all been amazing!”

Students throughout all levels and disciplines are helping with this collection although the main organisation is coming from the Bangor Nursing Society.

Kayte Powell the lead for the Nursing society in Wrexham said, “We’re giving the boxes of goodies, which include toiletries, puzzles, games and clothing such as socks and slippers, along with handwritten bilingual Christmas cards, to patients on the rehab and older persons mental health wards on December 19th.

We still need donations!”
