Student nurse success: Welsh language Skills Certificate

Congratulations to eleven nursing students for successfully achieving the Language Skills Certificate awarded by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.  The students will receive their certificates at a ceremony to be held at the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol stand at the National Eisteddfod in Cardiff on Wednesday afternoon, 8 August 2018.

The certificate serves as evidence of the students’ language skills and their ability to work through the medium of Welsh.  In the bilingual context of Wales, many people can only communicate their needs for care effectively through the medium of Welsh.  By mainstreaming the Welsh language into healthcare education it is a way of preparing future workforce with appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes to deliver ‘active offer’ of bilingual services.  More information about what the Language Skills Certificate is available on the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol website: http://www.colegcymraeg.ac.uk/en/study/languageskills/languageskillscertificate/
